Open letter calling for pharmaceutical transparency

On October 28th, we handed over an open letter to the Dutch Ministry of Health calling for increased transparency in the pharmaceutical sector. The letter was signed by numerous experts and organizations, including the Dutch Patient Federation and Doctors Without Borders Netherlands. The current lack of transparency is leading to inexplicably high medicine prices, which weigh heavily on healthcare budgets. Early next year we will also present the letter to the House of Representatives.

Event European Parliament: commitment to advancing transparency

On November 4th, Wemos and Health Action International organized an event in the European Parliament on improving transparency in the pharmaceutical sector. Experts, policymakers and journalists discussed the necessary steps to increase transparency about aspects such as medicine development costs, prices paid and profit margins. We warmly recommend this free resource (available in English/Spanish) to all committed to advancing health justice. Read more ➔

Wemos tips and picks

The powerful short documentary 'Rovina’s Choice', executive-produced by former USAID global health lead Atul Gawande, highlights the human toll of recent USAID cuts. It follows Rovina Naboi in Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp trying to save her malnourished daughter, whose condition worsened after U.S.-funded clinics closed. The film contrasts Washington’s claims with realities on the ground, showing how aid cuts endanger the world’s most vulnerable people. Watch it on YouTube
